Bone Conduction Audio Technology - The Science

As some of you may know, for our main headset, we use Bone Conduction Technology.

Traditional headphone sound travels from a speaker, through the air in the ear canal, eventually reaching the inner ear, and being absorb by the auditory nerve. Bone conduction takes a much more direct route, using mechanical vibration through a person's skull, bony labyrinth and inner ear. This increases the clarity of sound received, and reduces the distortion caused by external noise. It is also shown that long term use causes no damage to the eardrum, effectively protecting the hearing of the user.

But of course, we would say that about our own product wouldn't we?

Don't take our word for it! We've found some great information online on the topic that we'd love to share with you.

This HowStuffWorks Article goes into the nitty gritty science beheind the technology, and explains exactly how it has developed and evolved over the past 10 years.
